Kidney & Liver Health

At MercyTree Foundation, we recognize that kidney and liver health is critical to a child’s overall growth and wellbeing. Many preventable conditions—ranging from dehydration and poor nutrition to undetected hepatitis—can severely impact young lives if not addressed early. Our program aims to raise awareness, provide screenings, and promote healthier futures for children and families in Sub-Saharan Africa.

Key Program Components:

  • Healthy Kidneys for Kids – Teaching children and families about the importance of hydration, balanced nutrition, and recognizing early warning signs of kidney problems. Through school-based campaigns and community talks, we empower communities to protect children’s kidney health.
  • Kidney Care Clinics – Providing free kidney function screening and consultations to identify risks early and connect families to treatment and follow-up care when needed. These clinics especially target underserved rural and urban populations with limited access to healthcare.
  • Hepatitis Awareness & Screening – Offering education on liver health, prevention of hepatitis infections, and access to free or subsidized hepatitis B and C testing. Families also receive guidance on vaccination, treatment options, and support services to reduce the burden of liver disease in children and adults.

Our Impact Goal:
By combining education, free screenings, and access to preventive care, MercyTree Foundation’s Kidney & Liver Health Program seeks to reduce preventable kidney and liver diseases, safeguard children’s health, and promote stronger, healthier communities.
